The righter we do the wrong things, the
wronger we become. -Dr. Russell Akoff
As a parent, you should probably think pretty highly of your kid. Mine’s in grade 12 and he’s one intelligent dude. His grades on the other hand, mostly in the tanker.
The daily struggle we have in this house is real.
If I’m so smart, why did I flunk that test?
If I’m so smart, why didn’t I get honours every year?
Well sir, the righter you do the wrong thing, the wronger you become.
Before you ask .. yes. My 17 year old looked me dead in the eye and said, what the hell does that mean?
Storytime. As embarrassing as this is, it’s a true story from 4 weeks back.
I can’t put together Ikea to save my life. Seriously. But not this time Ikea. Not.This.Time.
I laid out all the pieces, read through the entire instruction booklet first, reminded myself that I’m an intelligent, competent woman and dove in.
Half way through, I think to myself … something ain’t right but I’m sure I’ve followed everything to a T and keep going.
Turns out I had assembled a few pieces in the wrong order and from there on out, no matter how perfectly I followed the directions I was doing all the wrong things.
Funny how that happens huh?
Know where else it happens? In your business.
I know it feels like you’re doing all the right things – and you may very well be.
Could be one of two things:
You’re doing the wrong things the right way and it’s not giving you the results you want.
You’re doing the right things the wrong way and it’s not giving you the results you want.
I’m kidding, I didn’t invent it, but I do run it and it’s pretty magical when you work the system. No useless course you’ll never open. No stupid groups to join.
