Why you don’t really need a backup plan

Always put a clean pair of undies in your carry on.

I have never once taken that advice.  Medication, snacks and money? Yes.  But an entire change of clothes in my carry on that barely fits my work stuff??

5 years ago, I was traveling back from Calgary and the 6 hour flight ended up taking me 23 hours and 39 minutes.  Delays and eventual cancellations left me running for a 4 hour train to make it home in time for a concert … but … they lost my bag.

I could make a quick stop at home for a change of clothes but every stitch of makeup and hair product was inside that luggage.

Frack.

My point is that maybe just because something seems unnecessary, the pain now is worth the eventual bigger pain down the road.

I mean, if the Royal Family can deal with the pain of not flying together just in case, maybe I can throw a pair of undies in my carryon.

Unnecessary is a word I hear A LOT with entrepreneurs and business owners like you especially when I start droning on about systems.

It’s just me.
I know how to do everything.
I’m never going to have a team.

The list of excuses is wildly long and at that moment, they all make sense. Truly valid even.  Like how there’s no room in my carry on for a few essentials.

But one thing I can guarantee is that there will be a day when you will regret that decision.

Bag lost.
Plane down.

I tried to make it all easier for you by creating this starter kit and despite my actual evil hatred of templates, I’ve thrown some of them in as well.

It’s $97 and covers:

1.  The 4 phases of auditing your business and how to assess which tasks should be documented first.

2.  The 6 golden rules to follow when documenting your business so you don’t drown in complexity and confusion.

3.  An inside peek at my Google Drive to see how I keep everything organized.

4.  A bonus bundle of templates and a blank SOP template to use in your own business.

Please do me a favour and go grab it before you actually need it.

You can get it here.

(In case it wasn’t obvious, my opening line was a joke. You always need a backup plan and this is it.)
